Old Feed The Dragon

June 21, 2009 in MySpace, Old Stuff by Admin (James)

I uploaded the old site to a sub-folder, most if it anyway…Old Feed The Dragon. Some of the MySpace codes and tutorials may be outdated and may also no longer work properly. The MySpace div tutorial is definitely good for learning about absolute positioning of divs and understanding how they work but the old method of hiding the default profile is buggy. Fortunately this has been updated with the release of Phoenix 2.1, a flexible and versatile foundation for creating MySpace div layouts.

Hello world!

June 14, 2009 in Old Stuff by Admin (James)

Welcome to Feed The Dragon, a resource and tutorial site for website creatives.  As you can see I’ve been making some dynamic changes to the site, the update in the overall look and feel is the smallest of these transformations. Before I get into that though let’s address something else real quick. Most of you are probably here looking for my old stuff, more than likely MySpace tutorials or codes. Well…there ya go. Now you might be wondering if I’m going to keep up with the old tradition of covering MySpace customization here on Feed The Dragon. I’m doubtful, MySpace makes so many changes that it’s a lot of work to keep my tutorials and codes up to date and therefore working properly. Also, I’ve expanded way beyond coding div layouts…I haven’t designed or coded one in ages. I make no promises but I am full of surprises…

There is hope though, while I personally may not directly keep up with MySpace there is the possibility that someone else can and will. It might even be you. Which leads me right back to where I started off…whole lotta changes goin on ’round here.  Feed The Dragon is now a social networking blogging community for website creatives. Anyone can create an account and join as a member and those who have something to share (MySpace tutorials or layouts for example) can set up a WordPress blog to become a contributing member of Feed The Dragon. Sign ups are currently disabled while I work out a bug. If you’d like to sign up contact me through http://jameskooi.com and be sure to provide me with the username and the email address you would like used for registration.
Sign Up is enabled, the sign up page is jacked up though so just bear with me while I work it out.

What I do plan on talking about on Feed The Dragon from here on out are the many different aspects of designing, developing, optimizing, and marketing websites. From coding, layout, and designing to being user friendly and search engine friendly. Getting visitors to your website is only half of the battle, keeping them there is the other half. I’ll be writing articles as well as tutorials also covering optimization, from optimizing your images, even your code, and yes for search engines. A lot can be done behind the scenes to improve the overall effectiveness of a website and cut overall operating and maintenance costs. I’ll touch down on topics from the advantages of social networking to the advantages of blogging. How they help connect you to your audience, customers, peers, etc. while at the same time providing you with radar to pick up on what other people are saying about you, your company, products, or services.

I welcome like minded individuals who would like to pass their knowledge on to others as well to join me on the blogs, in the groups, and in the forums.

More to come soon so stay tuned   ¦ )
